About the show
See 13 The Musical performed by a cast of pre-teenagers at Ambassadors Theatre.
The British Theatre Academy returns to Ambassador’s Theatre with a new production of 13 The Musical.
Set in a sleepy American middle school, 13 follows the changing fortunes of Evan Goldman, a regular kid navigating the choppy waters of school life.
Evan enjoys life in the metropolis of New York City. But as his Bar Mitzvah fast approaches and his parents’ divorce, Evan has to up sticks and move to rural Indiana.
Evan’s number one priority, understandably, is establishing a foothold in the school’s social hierarchy. Will he become one of the popular kids or will be left at the bottom of the pecking order?
Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown provides the music and lyrics for 13. Brown is also behind musicals including Parade, The Last 5 Years and Songs For A New World.
13 The Musical premiered on Broadway in 2008. That production that featured the Broadway debut of pop superstar Ariana Grande.
Last year, the British Theatre Academy staged a musical version of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden and Godspell at Ambassadors Theatre. Performed as a shortened version of the Tony Award-winning original, The Secret Garden earned 4 stars from The Stage, which described it as “evocatively beautiful”.
This year, along with 13, the British Theatre Academy’s hugely talented youngsters perform The Adventures of Pinocchio. Both shows are performed by a changing line-up of cast members. Three teams will tackle 13 across the production’s run. All of the performers are aged 13 or under.
13 The Musical runs from 16 – 23 August 2017 at the Ambassadors Theatre.
