One of the best-loved musicals of all time, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita returns to the West End. The evocative musical runs for a strictly limited season at London’s Phoenix Theatre from 28 July – 14 October 2017. Bob Tomson and Bill Kenwright direct this revival which comes to London following a UK tour.
Evita tells the stirring true story of Eva Perón’s astonishing rise to power, wealth and fame as the second wife of Argentine president Juan Perón.
Madonna, Antonio Banderas and Jonathan Pryce starred when the Olivier and Tony Award winning musical was made into a hit film in 1996.
In London, Emma Hatton plays the lead role of Eva Perón. Hatton previously played green-skinned witch Elphaba in the West End production of Wicked. She has also appeared in We Will Rock You and Dreamboats And Petticoats.
Gian Marco Schiaretti joins Hatton in the cast to play Che. The Italian performer was recently in Disney’s musical Tarzan, taking the lead role.
Oscar Balmaseda, Sarah O’Connor, George Arvidson, Lewis Barnshaw, Jessica Ellen, Callum Fitzgerald, Kellie Gnauck, Dominic Adam Griffin, Joe McCourt, Jude Neill, Jordan Oliver, Chrissie Perkins, Oliver Slade, Matias Stegmann and Yuval Zoref also star in the show.
The return of Evita to the West End coincides with the 65th anniversary of the death of Eva Perón.
Audiences across the globe have fallen in love with Evita’s soaring soundtrack. The musical features the songs Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, On This Night Of A Thousand Stars, You Must Love Me and Another Suitcase In Another Hall.
