About the show
Bollywood brilliance dances into London’s Peacock Theatre with Taj Express.
The magic of Bollywood arrives at the Peacock Theatre with Taj Express by choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant and director Shruti Merchant. The colourful, high-energy production makes its UK premiere following a sell-out tour of America.
Taj Express features songs by Oscar winner A. R. Rahman, the composer for Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. It is performed by a cast of Bollywood stars and internationally celebrated musicians.
Filled with passion and drama, Taj Express takes audiences behind the scenes of the world famous Bollywood film industry. Shankar is a young composer struggling to make his mark. His luck changes when Shankar looks to his hero A. R. Rahman for guidance. With his idol to show him the way, Shankar starts to achieve his dreams.
Vaibhavi Merchant and Shruti Merchant have previously worked together on The Merchants Of Bollywood. Touring for over five years, the sizzling show charted the life of the siblings’ grandfather Shiri Hiralaliji and Vaibhavi’s own path to success.
Reviewing The Merchants Of Bollywood, the Guardian says, “its dance numbers overpower with their energy, hot rhythms and kaleidoscope of eye-scorching costumes.”
The Peacock Theatre is known as Sadler’s Wells in the West End. The venue brings to London the best of dance and music from around the globe. Taj Express showcases the beauty and energy of Bollywood and Indian dance. Expect gorgeous costumes, catchy songs and a thoroughly fun night out.
Taj Express runs at the Peacock Theatre from 13 June – 2 July 2017.
