About the show
Uproariously funny, The Book Of Mormon has become a modern classic.
The Book Of Mormon is the story of two young Mormon missionaries sent to a remote Ugandan village. Full of optimism as they head off on their mission, they soon find spreading the good word is more difficult than they expected.
Crazy dream sequences add a surreal element to this hilarious and thought-provoking show. The tale of friendship, diversity, faith and culture is controversial and bold, but always heart warming.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone created hit show The Book Of Mormon. You may know them as the creators of hit animation South Park. They worked with Robert Lopez, who has worked on Avenue Q and Frozen, to create the songs. Unsurprisingly, this popular musical contains plenty of close-to-the-bone jokes, ridiculous situations and swearing… lots of swearing!
Its songs include You And Me (But Mostly Me), Man Up, Spooky Mormon Hell Dream and Tomorrow Is A Latter Day.
The Book Of Mormon was a sell-out success when it opened on Broadway in 2011. It won nine Tony Awards and four Olivier Awards including Best New Musical. and tickets have been in high demand since it landed in the West End in 2013.
KJ Hippensteel currently leads the cast, playing Elder Price. Brian Sears plays Elder Cunningham opposite him. Alexandra NCube (Nabulungi), Steven Webb (Elder McKinley) and Delroy Atkinson (General) join them in the cast.
The hugely popular musical is co-directed by Stone and Casey Nicholaw. Nicholaw also directs another hit Broadway musical, Dreamgirls, on the West End stage.
Critics love the show and heaped praise on The Book Of Mormon’s cast. The New York Times calls it, “The best musical of this century”.
The Book Of Mormon is booking to 11 November 2017 at the Prince Of Wales Theatre.
