About the show
Feel your spine tingle with new musical ghost story Whisper House at The Other Palace.
From the composer of Spring Awakening and American Psycho comes a deliciously creepy new musical ghost story.
Whisper House is set in a remote lighthouse on the East Coast of America during the Second World War. It’s 1942 and tragedy strikes when enemy fighters shoot down young Christopher’s father’s plane. The boy moves to live in an isolated old lighthouse with his aunt and her Japanese housekeeper. Soon, Christopher starts hearing inexplicable music coming through the walls. Is this the result of his vivid imagination running wild or is something more sinister going on?
Simon Bailey, whose musical credits include Parade at the Southwark Playhouse, Jersey Boys and also I Can’t Sing! The X-Factor Musical, stars in the production. Simon Lipkin, who appeared with Bailey in I Can’t Sing, also stars. Lipkin’s previously appeared in productions including The Lorax and Rock Of Ages.
Nicholas Goh (Breakfast at Tiffany’s at the Theatre Royal Haymarket) completes the cast of the new musical.
Tony Award winner Duncan Sheik provides music and lyrics, while Kyle Jarrow wrote book and lyrics. The musical was conceived with Keith Powell. Adam Lenson, who recently directed The Sorrows Of Satan at the Tristan Bates Theatre, directs the show.
Whisper House uses an original rock score performed by a live band. Striking illusions bring to life the remote and uncanny setting, enveloping the audience in the mysterious world of Christopher and the lighthouse. One for Susan Hill fans, perhaps?
Whisper House runs at The Other Palace from 6 April – 27 May 2017.
