About the show
Set out on a great adventure with On The Road at the Unicorn Theatre.
Are you afflicted by wanderlust, a constant desire to travel the globe looking for the perfect place to settle? Or are you a full-on homebody, someone who’s never happier than when they know everything and everyone they love is within a five-minute drive? Our attitudes to travel and home are explored in On The Road, a wonderful piece of children’s theatre for audience members aged 6 – 12 years old.
Created and directed by Michal Geyzen, On The Road confronts what it means to be a refugee without a home to live in, and the emotional impact of that. The story is told using sound, dance and movement, but no words. This makes it a deaf-friendly show that is also suitable for audiences who speak all languages.
It buzzes with energy and movement, plus an inventive score that begins as individual notes before building into a thrilling piece of evocative music.
On The Road is presented by Laika, a theatre company based in Belgium. The children and young adult theatre company specialise in making “theatre of the senses”. Whether that’s smell, taste, sight or sound, they’re interested in capturing the sense of wonder children have with the world and reminding adults of that.
On The Road runs from 23 – 28 October 2018 at the Unicorn Theatre.
