Tim Firth’s joy-filled jukebox musical The Band has its highly anticipated West End premiere. It plays a a strictly limited season of dates at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Based around the smash hit songs of boy band Take That, the audience-pleasing musical arrives in London in time for Christmas. Its London season is part of an extensive UK tour.
A love letter to fandom, The Band charts the friendship and devotion of a group of five female friends.
It’s 1992 and all a group of 16-year-old friends can think about is their favourite boyband. Fast-forward 25 years, and it turns out they can Never Forget their musical idols. With A Million Love Songs still in their hearts and heads, they decide to go Back For Good to see if they can make their dream of meeting the band come true .
Rachel Lumberg, Alison Fitzjohn, Emily Joyce and also Jayne McKenna play the friends. AJ Bentley, Nick Carsberg, Curtis T Johns, Yazdan Qafouri and Sario Solomon, who won the BBC series Let It Shine, play the boyband.

The Band is written by Tim Firth. He previously worked with Take That’s Gary Barlow on the West End musical The Girls. That show was based on the true story of the WI group who revealed all in the name of charity.
Take That are a British pop band who rose to fame in the 1990s. Featuring Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange – though Williams and Orange have now left the band – their hits include Relight My Fire, Pray and Rule The World.
The Band runs from 1 December 2018 – 12 January 2019 at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
