About the show
Disney’s The Lion King brings the colourful world of African wildlife to London’s West End.
Recommended for children aged six and older, the musical tells the tale of lion cub Simba. When his evil uncle Scar tricks Simba, the young lion believes he has caused a terrible tragedy, so runs away. With the help of his friends Pumbaa and Timon, he learns that he must return to help his family and become the King of the Pridelands.
With music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice, all your favourite songs from the film are in the musical. These include Circle Of Life, Can You Feel The Love Tonight and I Just Can’t Wait To Be King. New songs were also written especially for the stage production.
When Disney’s The Lion King first opened in London’s West End it made waves with its incredible costumes and puppetry. It was so impressive that it won two Olivier Awards in 2000 for costume design and choreography. It has been on of London theatre’s hottest tickets ever since.
