About the show
The world’s longest running play, The Mousetrap is a murder mystery that’s been one of London’s hottest tickets for more than 60 years.
Shrouded in secrecy, we can’t reveal this play’s final twist but we can tell you The Mousetrap has been one of London’s most sought-after tickets for more than 60 years for a reason.
Based on a short story by acclaimed crime writer Agatha Christie, who also wrote the play, The Mousetrap opened in 1952 and has been running continuously ever since.
The whodunnit opens with the mysterious murder of a woman, Maureen Lyon. Audiences will need to employ their detective skills as guests at Monkwell Manor guesthouse become suspects. The guests are snowed in, and as the investigation picks up pace and secrets are revealed, an aura of mistrust develops and the finger of suspicion points to each member of The Mousetrap cast in turn.
With a special place in the history of London theatre, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II took her place in the audience for the 50th anniversary celebrations and Hugh Bonneville, Sir Patrick Stewart and Julie Walters peformed in a one-off reading for the 60th anniversary.
